What can you use those ubiquitous plastic bags for???

Seeing that, I wondered whether there were not some uses for these bags which would keep them out of the landfill or at least lessen the environmental impact. I know that I use them to cushion packages, rather than those little plastic popcorn pieces. We use them to take out the cat litter and other trash. They're great for travelpacking, since they have no weight and take up no room, but they can protect items or be used to keep dirty laundry and wet swimsuits in. But, these aren't...

I travelled to Athens, Greece, between Christmas and New Years and wrote a trip report about it which was recently published at the SlowTrav site.

New Years Eve in Athens

Images from the trip are also posted at my Gallery [linked on the SlowTrav site.

For good measure, the whole Trip Report is also posted at the Trip Reports page of the Resources area of this website....

Great Quote

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of
our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable
views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little
corner of the earth all one's lifetime. - Mark Twain

Using a Digital Workflow in Aperture: Adding Order to the Chaos of your Life in Photography

Preparations:

Planning: using checklists, make sure you’re taking everything you need to be effective and update those checklists each time you use them. And before you do any image-work, be sure to calibrate your monitor or have done so fairly recently.

Using: if at all possible, use original resources that won’t degrade through use. That means shooting in RAW if possible, saving in TIFF if possible, not compressing the data until well after you are finished working...

Decorative frames, available at many stores, are appropriate for everyday snapshots. However, these frames either do not come with a mat or spacers to keep the photo from contact with the glass, or they use a poor quality acidic paper mat. Unfortunately, many unmatted photos have been damaged or permanently stuck to glass when fluid seeped between the glass and photo after the glass had been sprayed with liquid cleaner or beverages were spilled near the frame. Never use spray cleaners...
